The Act on Personal Data Protection (The General Regulation on Data Protection, Act on Implementation of the General Regulation N/N, no. 42/18 and N/N no. 103/03, 118/06, 41/08, 130/11, 106/12-suspended) regulates the protection of personal data of individuals as well as the surveillance on collection, processing and use of personal data in The Republic of Croatia. The purpose of personal data protection is protection of private life and other human rights and fundamental freedoms in collecting, processing und using personal data.
Personal data protection in The Republic of Croatia will be provided to each individual regardless of citizenship and residence, race, colour of the skin, gender, language, religion, political or other persuasions, national or social background, assets, birth, education, social status or any other qualities.
The employee in charge of personal data will ensure legitimate personal data processing, claiming of personal data protection rights and will see to legitimate personal data processing in accordance with provisions of the Act on personal data protection and other regulations regarding personal data processing, will further call attention of head of personal data collection to the imperative of implementation of personal data protection in planning and practices exerting influence on privacy and personal data protection issues, will inform all the employees involved in personal data processing with their legal obligations with a view to personal data protection, will collaborate with the Agency for personal data protection regarding the implementation of surveillance of personal data processing.
The employee in charge of protection of personal data is bound to keep the confidentiality of all information and data acquired in the fulfilment of his/her tasks. The obligation persists equally subsequent to the termination of the position of the employee in charge of personal data protection.
